Lucy's Room

So, before we moved to the great northwest, Lucy prayed and hoped that our new home would mean her own room. Maybe it was the sharing of her bed, the room and toys w/ little sister but she wanted her own space. I secretly thought that this would be impossible, but kept telling her to take it to God. For sure, she would get her own bed (bunk beds), but her own room, not likely considering a family of six, prices up here etc. We did talk about the "theme" she wanted...."Beach theme" she said. This so goes w/ her personality....lounging around, beach bumb, never hurrying....love that about her, except when were trying to get to the bus on time.
So, this house came w/ an extra room...the boys didn't mind sharing a large bedroom, that meant the girls could be split up....Lucy was thrilled. So, Dan put his creative, frugal mind to work and found most everything @ Cost Plus (love that store!) Here it is....hammock, sandbox, w/ seashells, beach canopy and lights, and boogy board for surfing. She loves it, has enjoyed having her own space. I secretly thought she would miss being w/ her younger sister. Nope. Now, if we could just work on keeping it clean:)

Cup of Joy

My sweet Annie-Grace has her daddy's whit and sense of humor, although she is still fine tuning her appropriateness:) She has a friend who lives near by that she loves to play with, her mom is really nice too and we often chat @ the bus stop. Sometimes her mom tells me funny, strange remarks or conversations she as w/ Annie-Grace. I always get a little nervous, b/c some of Annie's comments can come across rude or just not very sensitive. So, this morning @ the bus stop we got another "cup of joy" from my youngest. Again, her friends mom was telling me of something Annie-Grace had said @ a play date over the weekend. The girls had been playing w/ lots of toys and had made a significant mess. The mom had said, it's time to clean up.....and made some comment about her daughter having too much stuff. Annie-Grace then proceeds to say, "Mrs. ____, I don't mean to be rude, but some parents give their kids too much stuff b/c they have a hole in their heart". The mom was hooked, and went on to tell Annie-Grace that all the toys were from birthday party's etc. and how much she gives away.....All I could do was laugh! The mom laughed w/ me, realizing how absurd to justify to a 8yr. old. I'm still laughing, and pondering her insight. From the mouths of babes.....

All Clear, Everybody Clear!

Gina Igel tagged me w/ this photo on Facebook, and I could not resist putting it on the blog. Don't we look ancient?! My "puffed sleeves" reminded me of my favorite movie at the time, Anne of Green Gables. Which now my girls enjoy watching. It is nice to see we've advance in defibrilating patients, I reallly hope our old nursing school has advanced in some newer equipment as well:)
